On August 10th, 2019 we completed our second Good is Cool Event.
The day started with lots of butterflies in my stomach! I did a final run thru of my speech at 6 AM, followed by a workout. I packed some things and got my hair blown out while my amazing team – Elevate, Amy, Natalie and Tiffany set everything up. I showed up to find the room PACKED with chairs.
“There must be extra chairs,” I thought…
Before I knew it, people started arriving and sitting in their seats an hour and a half before it began.
I was mingling and chatting with people and giving lots of hugs. And I looked up and the entire room was full. 350 people jam packed into the venue – all to hear the Good is Cool message.
People came from Texas, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, California – ALL OVER. I am still in disbelief.
Shannan Monson spoke and was incredible. One of my favorite things she said was when her dad looked at her and her 5 sisters and said, “they’re tougher than they look.” It’s true – we all are tougher than we think. We can do hard things.
Andy Thompson spoke about being your authentic self. My favorite thing he spoke about was self talk. Positive self talk is absolutely critical for success.
I spoke about discovering your impact. I have to say, it was one of those speeches where I was IN THE ZONE. I was feeling it. I was in my sweet spot. I felt really confident about how the message was communicated, which was the most important thing for this whole event.
We had the meet and greet afterwards, along with the photo bus and King of Pops! The words of encouragement from all of you meant everything.
One girl specifically came up to me and said the sweetest words followed by, “take this in. You need encouragement just as much as anyone.”
She was right and it meant so, so much to me.
This event was one for the books. We are starting to look at (BIGGER) venues for 2020.
We would love to know – where, in the Atlanta area, would you love to see the next Good is Cool event? Comment down below and let me know!
